Home Together: Delaware County Home Share Program

Bringing people together to share homes, reduce housing costs, and build meaningful connections through mutually supportive living arrangements.

What Is Home Sharing?

Home Together is a homesharing program that brings people together to share a home in a mutually beneficial way.

What makes Home Together different from a typical roommate arrangement is its purpose: it’s built on mutual support, respect, and connection.

  • Every home share is unique.
  • Each match is thoughtfully designed around the individual needs, preferences, and lifestyles of the people involved.
  • One person offers a private bedroom and access to shared living spaces.
  • In return, the other person may provide a financial contribution, help around the home, or a combination of both.

Our Screening and Matching Process

While it’s possible to find a housemate on your own, Home Together provides a structured, supportive process to help create safe, compatible, and successful matches. At Media Fellowship House, participant safety and comfort are our top priorities.

Our screening process focuses on your safety and security. Each compatible match is unique and based upon the interests, needs, and lifestyles of the individuals involved. It is up to people in the program to decide who they want to live with. We guide you through each step, but you remain in control of your decisions—ultimately choosing who you feel is the right fit for your home and life.

How It Works

Application

Getting started is easy. You can complete an application online or request that one be mailed to you.

Background checks and references

To help ensure safety and compatibility, we conduct multiple background checks and reference checks for every applicant. Your personal information is kept confidential and is never shared or sold.

Interview

We take time to get to know you—your lifestyle, preferences, and what you’re looking for in a home share.

If you’re offering a home, this may include a visit so we can better understand your space. You’re welcome to include family members or trusted supporters in this conversation.

Using what we’ve learned, we identify potential matches based on shared interests, needs, and living styles. When we have participants we think might be a fit, we call you and tell you about each other. If you decide you would like to meet, we plan a time for an introduction meeting.

Match Introduction

If both participants are interested, we arrange a guided introduction. A Media Fellowship House staff member facilitates the conversation so you can get to know each other, ask questions, and talk openly about expectations, privacy, and compatibility. You can see for yourself if this person might be a good fit for you.

Trial Match

If you decide to move forward, you’ll begin with a two-week trial period. This gives both people a chance to see if the arrangement feels right.

Either person can choose to end the match during this time. Participants moving into a home are required to maintain their current housing and bring only essential belongings (just a suitcase) during the trial in case it doesn’t work out.

Match Agreement

If both participants agree to a trial match, we help create a written agreement outlining shared expectations. This may include details like financial contribution, household responsibilities, schedules, visitors, and how to end the arrangement if needed.

An initial draft agreement is created before the trial period begins, so everyone starts with clear expectations. After the trial period, we work with both participants to review and revise the agreement based on their experience, creating a final version that reflects what works best for both people.

Ongoing Support

Our support doesn’t stop once you’re matched. Media Fellowship House staff stay in touch and are available to help if needs change, questions come up, or challenges arise.
