Introducing the Claire McGeehan Leadership Scholarship, named in memory of a dedicated community leader, MFH board member, and educator who inspired positive change in our community.

  • For high school seniors in Delaware County.
  • Multi-year scholarship of $2,000 per year for up to 4 years to support leadership journey in post-secondary education.
  • Show leadership qualities by overcoming challenges, promoting diversity, and contributing to the community.

Application Process

While financial need isn’t required, we aim to make opportunities accessible, especially for low- to moderate-income households.

Eligibility

  • High school senior in Delaware County.
  • Planning to enroll in post-secondary education (college, trade school, military, or similar) the year after senior year.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities by overcoming challenges with resilience, promoting diversity and understanding, and service to the larger community.

How to apply

Applicants must be nominated by educators/leaders from a Delaware County High School or local community organization.

  • For Students: If you believe you are a good candidate, share the opportunity with a teacher, counselor, mentor, or employee who would be willing to apply and write a letter of recommendation.
  • For Teachers, Counselors, Mentors or Employers: If you know a student who is a good candidate for the award, submit your nomination before February 29th.

Timeline

  • November to February: Nominations & applications open.
  • March: Award Team narrows down the pool and conducts video interviews for finalists.
  • April: Scholarship recipients are announced.
  • May: Annual Award Ceremony
