Walk a Mile Delco – Historically Black Neighborhood of Swarthmore Walk

April 26 @ 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm

This April, we invite you to take part in Walk a Mile Delco, two community-centered walking events that connects neighbors through shared stories, local history, and meaningful exploration of Delaware County.

As our community based Delco Gives event, Walk a Mile Delco helps raise critical support for the Media Fellowship House Youth Scholarship Program, which awards scholarships each year to nine Delaware County high school students as they pursue their post-secondary education and career goals.

Our fundraising goal is $15,000 to sustain and grow this important investment in local youth.

Have you ever wanted to explore a new neighborhood and walk in someone else’s shoes? Walk a Mile Delco invites you to connect, explore, and learn through small, guided neighborhood walks in Delaware County neighborhoods.

Sunday, April 26th Walk: Historically Black Neighborhood of Swarthmore

Step into history with Jeannine Osayande, a lifelong resident, researcher and podcast creator who has documented the voices and stories of this historic neighborhood. This walking tour brings to life the legacy of Black residents over the past century, offering a deeper, more personal understanding of the community.

Meeting Place: Corner of Brighton & Yale Ave, Swarthmore

Free Suggested Donation of $20 to support youth scholarships

Delco gives 2026

Your Giving Makes a Difference

Delco Gives is Delaware County’s largest celebration of generosity—a county-wide giving movement that brings people together to support the nonprofits that strengthen our community.Hosted by the Foundation for Delaware County, the next Delco Gives will take place May 6–7, 2026.

In just two years, Delco Gives has helped raise nearly $4 million for hundreds of local organizations, increasing visibility, building connections, and spotlighting the essential work happening across Delaware County every day.

All donations raised between April 1 and May 7th will help us reach our fundraising goal of $15,000 in support of youth scholarships.
