Workshop 1:
Listening for the Details that Set You on Your Life’s Path
Saturday, March 23, 10 am – 1 pm

In the initial storytelling workshop we will explore the unique circumstances and pivotal moments that have brought you to this point – where you’re ready to reach out and share your story with the world.

During this session, you’ll be encouraged to jot down notes, make lists, engage in dialogue, and listen intently for the details that have shaped your life’s path. We’ll uncover the threads that weave your narrative, guiding you toward a deeper understanding of your own story.

Workshop 2:
Crafting the Storyline of Your Journey
Saturday, March 30, 10 am – 1 pm

Join us for our second storytelling workshop, where we embark on a journey to uncover the underlying narrative that threads through the events of your life. Together, we will explore techniques for transforming raw data into captivating personal stories.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to share your narrative in a supportive group setting and receive constructive feedback. Together, we’ll illuminate the themes, arcs, and characters that shape your story, empowering you to communicate your experiences with authenticity and resonance.

Don’t miss this chance to delve deeper into your own narrative and refine your storytelling skills. Register now and let your story unfold with clarity and purpose.

Our Stories Connect:

Moving Beyond Bias to Connect with Others

Put your newfound storytelling skills into practice at Our Stories Connect – our first annual community dialogue event. As a participant in our workshops, we invite you to share your story with your neighbors, to be heard and seen in a supportive environment.

Your story has the power to challenge biases, foster empathy, and deepen understanding. While sharing your story is not a requirement of attending our workshops, we encourage you to join us for this transformative event.

Be the catalyst for change. Share your story at Our Stories Connect.

Meet our Program Facilitator

Megan Hicks was born in the Texas oilfields during the Baby Boom to two survivors of the Great Depression – a fighter pilot and a war bride.  She graduated from high school during the Nixon Era – when the Watts Riots, the Free Speech Movement, the Black Panther Movement, and the Vietnam War were breaking news.  While she never had first-hand experience with any of these epochs and events, they all influenced her life then, the adult she has become, and the stories she creates.

Megan dives heart-first into every story she tells – fairy tale, personal story, American history, parody, humor, and ghost and horror. Her favorite story is whichever one she happens to be telling at the moment.

She performs at festivals throughout North America, and her international storytelling credits include tours of libraries and bilingual schools in New Zealand, China, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile.

Her recordings include fractured fairy tales (Groundhogs Meet Grimm), historical fiction (What was Civil About that War), personal history (High School on the Homefront), fairy tales (No Tricks. Just Magic), and a collection of stories recorded live at the National Storytelling Festival (Like You’re Really There).

With her husband, Jack, she co-produces a monthly series, Rose Valley Storytelling House Concerts, now in its eighth season.
