Ensuring a Safe and Respectful HomeShare
At Home Together, your safety and comfort are our top priorities. We want every home share to be built on mutual respect and trust, so we raise the topic of sexual harassment with all participants before any match begins. Understanding what constitutes unacceptable behavior helps create a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.
Sexual Harassment Statement
We, Media Fellowship House, want your HomeShare match to be successful and safe, therefore we raise the issue of sexual harassment with all of our participants, before a match begins.
Sexual Harassment could include, but is not limited to, the following:
Unwelcome sexual advances, sexual words or jokes, comments about an individual’s body, unwelcome whistling, touching or brushing against the body, or inappropriate nudity or near nudity.
Sexual harassment in a home environment is illegal, offensive and unacceptable. If you are unsure whether or not your behavior may be sexual harassment, just don’t do it. If you have concerns about the behavior of the person you are matched with at any time during your match, please contact MEDIA FELLOWSHIP HOUSE staff immediately.
Fair Housing Notice & Non-Discrimination Policy
Media Fellowship House is committed to ensuring that all Home Together arrangements follow the Fair Housing Act. Even though home sharing is not always a traditional landlord–tenant situation, federal and state fair housing laws still apply.
Media Fellowship House serves people regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, disability, presence of minor children, and/or income status.
As part of the homesharing application process, all applicants agree to abide by a policy of nondiscrimination and be willing to meet people who are different from themselves.
It is illegal to discriminate in housing based on: Race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability.
What This Means for Home Sharing
- Matches are based on compatibility, shared expectations, and mutual needs — not personal characteristics protected by law.
- Advertising or expressing preferences that exclude someone based on a protected category is not permitted.
- While limited exemptions can apply in small, owner-occupied homes, discrimination based on race is never allowed.
