On June 17, officials from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development visited Harrisburg to announce a significant $10 million national grant aimed at reducing the homeownership gap through housing counseling. We are excited to share that the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) and their sub-grantees received over $479,000 as part of this remarkable homeownership initiative!
One inspiring success story from this initiative is that of Karina Urbina, a 35-year-old single mother who turned her dream of homeownership into reality. Karina received 18 months of dedicated housing counseling services from Media Fellowship House, including one-on-one counseling and homebuyer education. In February 2024, Karina proudly purchased her first home in Folcroft, Delaware County, PA.
Karina’s journey was made possible with $10,000 in Delaware County Homeownership First Assistance and an additional $4,000 from United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, after completing her housing counseling services with Media Fellowship House.
Karina’s story is a testament to how housing counseling can transform lives. Watch her heartfelt testimonial video and learn more about the impact of this vital support. To begin your journey towards homeownership, learn more on our website HERE.
