Planting Event: Martha Burton Community Park

Join us for a day of service and fun as we create a beautiful garden at Martha Burton Park in South Media, Nether Providence Township. This community event is co-organized by South Media Neighbors United, Nether Providence Township, and Media Fellowship House.
Family friendly activities for all ages including: planting, paver painting, seed planting. Tools will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own. Parking is limited and we encourage you to carpool, bike, or walk if you can!
A great opportunity to complete community service hours!

About Martha Burton Park
This half-acre pocket park at Ronaldson and Allen Streets in South Media was officially established in 1979 as a memorial for those who served in World War I. The tract was originally presented to the township in 1929 by prominent attorney and township resident A. B. Geary and his family.
Mrs. Burton, who has lived in South Media her entire life, established and ran (in the late 60s and early 70s) a Community House On The Corner Of Wallingford Ave and Vernon St known as the South Media Community Center. She helped with the creation of youth summer jobs and organized activities for teenagers in the community, including a pool for the community. The center also became the the home of the South Media Boy Scout Troop. Her guidance and leadership helped countless young teens in the community – instilling hard work and dedication that extends into generations. The park was renamed in 2020 in honor of her service to the community.
