Sophie’s days are dedicated to the rehabilitation and care of injured or abandoned sea creatures. She is searching for a sense of connection by finding her birth father while navigating relationships with her birth mother, an almost Olympian who has never quite warmed to anyone, adoptive mother in danger of losing her neighborhood restaurant, and mother in law who can’t seem to sit still. Through her journey to heal her sense of abandonment, she finds renewed strength in the community around her.

The Media Arts Council (MAC) Play Reading Series was created by playwrights Julie Zaffarano, Dave Ebersole, and Keenya Jackson, in partnership with the MAC to create a space for local playwrights to hear their work read by talented actors and receive feedback from a public audience. The only regular new play reading series in the area, it brings exciting new stories to Delaware County.
Playwrights, actors, and directors who are interested in being involved in the series should Dave Ebersole at daveebersole25@gmail.com, Keenya Jackson at keenyajackson@gmail.com, or Julie Zaffarano at juliezaffarano.gmail.com. Due to the limited budget for this project, we are unable to offer actors or directors a stipend through the MAC.

The mission of the Media Arts Council is to actively support local artists and integrate a wide range of arts into the life of the entire community. MAC achieves this mission by providing professional artists with opportunities to exhibit, sell, and/or perform, infusing Media with public art installations, providing arts education classes, and offering community arts events.
