Disrupted: Film Screening

Join Media Fellowship House and Media Area NAACP for a powerful screening of Disrupted: Injustice, Trauma, and Healing, a documentary that explores the city of Philadelphia through the lens of race, class, and the far-reaching impacts of incarceration. This moving portrait reveals how the legacy of slavery continues to shape our systems—and how healing and justice can begin through community action and policy change.

The film is produced by John Pace, a dedicated advocate for youth justice and a leader at the Youth Sentencing & Reentry Project (YSRP). John and his team work to reduce the imposition, duration, and lifelong impact of adult criminal sentences on low-income children and their families. Through legal advocacy and storytelling, YSRP ensures that young people are seen as more than their charges—giving judges the opportunity to hear their full story before determining their fate.

YSRP’s approach helps young people stay connected to their communities while incarcerated, and provides critical support as they return home. Their work is a testament to the power of empathy, justice, and the belief in second chances.
