In a significant stride toward achieving digital equity, Media Fellowship House has received a generous grant from the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, in collaboration with Comcast. This funding aims to launch a Digital Navigation Program in Delaware County, aligning with Comcast’s broader commitment to advancing digital equity through Project UP—a groundbreaking $1 billion initiative dedicated to bridging the digital divide.

Expanding Opportunities: The Digital Navigator Network

The Digital Navigator Network, an already impactful program in Philadelphia, is gearing up to broaden its reach to residents in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties starting in November 2023. Trusted Digital Navigators, embedded within community organizations, will provide vital assistance to residents in signing up for internet services and acquiring essential digital skills. This expansion has been made possible through a substantial grant from Comcast, representing a significant step towards cultivating an inclusive digital landscape.

Residents in these counties can now access guidance on digital access and literacy skills simply by dialing 2-1-1. The Digital Navigator Network is a tangible means of support, ensuring that every individual is equipped to navigate the ever-evolving digital era.

Media Fellowship House’s Digital Navigation Program: Transformative Impact

With this grant from the United Way and technological support from Comcast, Media Fellowship House is gearing up to launch a Digital Navigation Program that will empower individuals and households in need. Comcast’s donation of 50 laptops to Media Fellowship House serves as a tangible contribution to bridging the digital gap in the community. These laptops will be strategically distributed to households lacking access to digital devices, ensuring that more individuals have the necessary tools to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Envisioning a Connected Future: A United Community for Digital Inclusion

As Media Fellowship House prepares to implement the Digital Navigation Program, the collaboration between Comcast, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, and participating community organizations signifies a united front in the fight for digital inclusion. By extending support, resources, and expertise, these entities are laying the foundation for a more equitable and connected future.

The Digital Navigator Network Expansion serves as a beacon of hope, illustrating the collective power of corporations, nonprofits, and communities working together to break down barriers and pave the way for a more inclusive digital landscape. Together, they are not only providing access but also fostering the skills necessary for individuals and families to navigate the digital world with confidence.
