DESCRIPTION:Every year\, Media Fellowship House invites the community to our annual Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. Birthday Commemoration to honor this American hero. For more than thirty years\, we have partnered with various community groups to produce one of our area’s largest events. With partners including the Media Area NAACP and Media area houses of worship\, Media Fellowship House strives to ensure that Dr. King’s work is never forgotten and his message lives on. \n\n\n\nThis year\, guests are invited to a Community Dinner following the event\, co-hosted by First Church Media and catered by Cedar Creek Catering with the support of community volunteers. The event will feature performances by West African dancers and drummers from DunyaPAC\, along with vocalist Rev. Dr. Lisa Dennis. \n\n\n\n\n\nKeynote Speaker\, Jeannine Osayande.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVocalist\, Rev. Dr. Lisa Dennis.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe occasion will highlight the induction of two remarkable community heroes into the MLK Spirit Hall of Fame\, recognizing their outstanding contributions to environmental and health justice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nZulene Mayfield\, a founding member of Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living (CRCQL)\, leads education campaigns\, assembling data on the consequences of incineration\, working with local college campuses\, and convincing suburban communities they too have a stake and responsibility in fighting for environmental justice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChrista Barfield\, CEO of FarmerJawn & Friends Foundation\, is dedicated to enhancing access\, education\, and awareness to empower underserved communities in regenerative organic food production. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe MLK Spirit Hall of Fame\, launched by MFH in 2018\, honors local and national leaders\, past and present\, who reflect the values of Dr. King. This year\, two individuals join a collection of 23 existing inductees who serve as role models for all who find value in their lives\, accomplishments and commitment to advocacy for justice.

Thank you to Cedar Creek Catering and First Church Media for hosting us. \n\n\n\n\nVolunteer With Us!\n\n\n\n\nLast year\, we collected essential resources and filled over 100 boxes to deliver to partnering organizations. This year\, we’ll be collecting much needed items for: \n\n\n\n\nCityTeam Chester\n\n\n\nDelaware County Victim Assistance Center\n\n\n\nEvery Child Counts\n\n\n\nThe Foundation for Delaware County: Women\, Infants & Children (WIC) Program\n\n\n\nMedia Food Bank\n\n\n\nNo More Secrets\n\n\n\n\nEach of these organizations provides a meaningful service to the larger community as they combat the very real societal issues of housing\, food\, and resource insecurity. DESCRIPTION:Following UDTJ’s successful community meet-ups during Pride on State in June of 2023\, the organizers of Delaware County Pride have launched monthly community meet-ups for the LGBTQQIA+ community in Delaware County to foster community building\, growth\, and safe spaces to thrive. Each month will feature different topics and occasional social events mixed in. These events are 18+ and we encourage everyone to join and come make friends together! \n\n\n\nLet’s keep making history together and create a stronger and more vibrant LGBTQQIA+ community in Delaware County!
