DESCRIPTION:Media Fellowship House invites community members to join us for our bi-weekly Digital Skills Workshop Series\, a Coffee & Community program designed to build confidence and practical technology skills in a welcoming\, supportive environment.  \n\n\n\nWhether you’re looking to strengthen your digital knowledge\, stay safe online\, or build confidence navigating today’s digital world\, this hands-on session will provide clear guidance and practical tips you can use right away. \n\n\n\nRegistration is encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served. Laptops will be available for public use. \n\n\n\n\nRegister to Attend\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDigital navigation program at MFH\n\n\n\nMeet our instructor\n\n\n\nJulia Messam is Media Fellowship House’s Digital Navigator\, focused on expanding access\, confidence\, and opportunity through technology. She works to remove barriers to digital access and build confidence in essential technology skills. Julia supports community members in securing affordable devices and internet service\, strengthening digital literacy\, and using technology to meet their personal and professional goals. She is an advocate for digital equity in Delaware County. \n\n\n\n\n\nParking:\n\n\n\nPublic street parking is managed by Media Borough and is available on W. Franklin Street and South Jackson Street. Please check signage for residential\, handicapped\, and metered parking spaces around Media Fellowship House. DESCRIPTION:Join Nalandabodhi Philadelphia for in-person Introduction to Meditation / Discovering Oneself at Media Fellowship House. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re a beginner or an experienced meditator\, please join us monthly for “Discovering Oneself”\, an introduction to meditation course within Nalandbodhi’s Path of Meditation curriculum. Along with our meditation practice\, we’ll study and discuss Rebel Buddha\, by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche\, founder and Spiritual Director of Nalandabodhi. \n\n\n\nThese “Second Sundays” offer a regular in-person connection to meditation and study within a community of friendship and support.  \n\n\n\n\n\nAll are welcome! \n\n\n\nContact PHILADELPHIA@NALANDABODHI.ORG for more information if you have questions\, need page numbers\, or need help locating the book. \n\n\n\nSome notes if you plan to attend: \n\n\n\n\nIf you have interested friends\, please bring them along too – this week or any week!\n\n\n\nParking outside the Fellowship House is free on weekends for anyone.\n\n\n\nLeave your shoes outside the main room.\n\n\n\nCushions and chairs are provided; you’re welcome to use your own cushion if you like.\n\n\n\nIf you have a copy of Rebel Buddha\, please bring it.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOutside rental group\n\n\n\nNalandabodhi Philadelphia\n\n\n\nNalandabodhi is an international community dedicated to bringing the wisdom and compassion of awakening into today’s world. DESCRIPTION:Original Playreading Series:\n\n\n\nThe Rule of Cool \n\n\n\nby Griffin Horn\n\n\n\nIt’s Sophomore year and Iph is struggling to keep up with pre-med\, and not even her weekly game of Dungeons & Dragons can help. She and her friends go back to the drawing board and make their campaign up from scratch\, when all the feelings they haven’t confronted begin appearing unbidden in their game. Can they keep their cool? \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Playwright\n\n\n\nGriffin Horn (he/him) is a playwright\, director\, and educator\, with a B.A. in Drama from Kenyon College\, and an M.F.A. in Playwriting from Temple University. His full-length plays include Our Hopeful Anxious Hearts\, which received a reading at PlayPenn\, and was a finalist for the Terrence McNally Award at Philadelphia Theatre Company. He directed A Levittown Christmas Carol by Righteous Jolly and Dave Shaw at the New Hope Arts Center\, as well as Voices by Joy Nash\, The Half of It by Domenick Scudera\, Morphology by Jillian Blevins\, and Promises to Keep: A Yuletide Ceremony\, all for the Phillips’ Mill Community Association. He has taught at Ursinus College\, Darlington Arts Center\, McCarter Theatre Center\, and Arena Stage. He is an alumnus of The Foundry\, and the Playwrights Cohort\, both run by PlayPenn in Philadelphia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Series\n\n\n\nThe Media Arts Council (MAC) Play Reading Series was created by playwrights Julie Zaffarano\, Dave Ebersole\, and Keenya Jackson\, in partnership with the MAC to create a space for local playwrights to hear their work read by talented actors and receive feedback from a public audience. The only regular new play reading series in the area\, it brings exciting new stories to Delaware County. \n\n\n\nPlaywrights\, actors\, and directors who are interested in being involved in the series should Dave Ebersole\, Keenya Jackson\, or Julie Zaffarano at macplayreadingseries20@gmail.com. Beginners and experts alike are welcome to join class and work in any medium. The sessions are designed to provide artistic community and fellowship to the artists of Media and beyond. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks to enjoy or share with new friends. Poses will range in length from 1-20 minutes \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSupporting local artists\n\n\n\nMedia Arts Council (MAC)\n\n\n\nMedia Fellowship House is excited to host Media Arts Council (MAC) programming in our space after their move from their State Street location in August 2024. May 2026. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnother Damn Beautiful Journey  \n\n\n\nJennifer Schelter will read a section from her memoir Some Beauty about aging and the death of a dream:How do women explore autonomy and aging in mid-life and later-life? This reading will explore how the end of a dream and aging reshape identity\, embraces vulnerability and grief\, as access to self-discovery\, and the creative purpose of honoring one’s life.  \n\n\n\nThe reading will point to one woman’s need to redefine meaning\, connection\, and confidence in this stage of life. \n\n\n\nThe Salon Series is a performance series where art and audience become one living work\, with an overarching theme: What does it mean to be fully oneself? \n\n\n\nThrough art and conversation\, the evening becomes a meditation in self-awareness\, collective wisdom and grace. an act of collective wisdom\, liberation\, and grace. \n\n\n\n\nPurchase Tickets\n\n\n\n\nArtist Bio \n\n\n\nJennifer Schelter is a writer\, actress\, painter\, and teacher. She shared in a Tony Award at the Denver Center Theater Company in 1998 and has written and produced four one-woman shows\, including Love Lessons\, produced by Amnesty International and Interact Theater in Philadelphia. She founded Philadelphia’s largest civic yoga fundraiser and the Radiant Retreat in Mexico\, an annual retreat that focuses on meditation\, yoga\, and writing for personal wellness\, development\, and creativity. Jennifer facilitates programs at the University of Pennsylvania\, Wharton\, Morris Arboretum\, and Maine Media Workshops & College. Her watercolor paintings have been exhibited at Connecticut College\, The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts\, Gwynedd Mercy University\, and Woodmere Art Museum. She lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia\, enjoying her garden\, cats\, and art. \n\n\n\n\n\noutside presenter\n\n\n\nRadio Live Arts\n\n\n\nThis project is born out of a love of spoken word performance\, audio drama\, and old-time radio programs—anything where the connection between word\, speaker\, and audience is at its most focused. The American Library Association and the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions support intellectual freedom as defined in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Within US libraries\, freedom of thought is protected by ethical guidelines\, the First Amendment\, and the Fourth Amendment. By supporting access to information and creative\, intellectual pursuits\, libraries can be central community institutions and resources for civic engagement. \n\n\n\nJoin us for an evening of reflection\, history\, and dialogue on how the Constitution continues to shape America’s future. \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker\n\n\n\nLisa Rand is a reference and instruction Librarian at Penn State Lehigh Valley and has worked in public libraries in southeast Pennsylvania. Lisa is the 2026 chair of the Intellectual Freedom Committee of the Pennsylvania Library Association. She serves as a volunteer Law for Librarians trainer through the Office for Intellectual Freedom of the American Library Association. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is co-hosted by Media Fellowship House and Media Area NAACP.

DESCRIPTION:Original Playreading Series:\n\n\n\nGutter\n\n\n\nby Quinn Eli\n\n\n\nThe disillusioned manager of a fading Philadelphia bowling alley ignites tension among her racially divided staff when a famous Hollywood actor arrives to scout a “gritty” location for his next film\, offering each of them a potential new future at an enormous cost. \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Playwright\n\n\n\nQuinn D. Eli is a playwright\, dramaturg\, and educator\, originally from the Bronx\, NY. His short plays have appeared in Best American Ten-Minute Plays and been produced throughout the country. Longer works can be found on NPX\, including Hot Black/Asian Action\, a satire about sexual and racial stereotypes\, and In Common\, an interracial ghost story\, produced by Purple Rose Theater. He is a cofounder of Jouska PlayWorks\, a Philadelphia-based initiative for playwrights of the African Diaspora. Recognized as an artist-advocate by the Kilroys in 2025\, Eli heads the Theatre program at the Community College of Philadelphia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Series\n\n\n\nThe Media Arts Council (MAC) Play Reading Series was created by playwrights Julie Zaffarano\, Dave Ebersole\, and Keenya Jackson\, in partnership with the MAC to create a space for local playwrights to hear their work read by talented actors and receive feedback from a public audience. The only regular new play reading series in the area\, it brings exciting new stories to Delaware County. \n\n\n\nPlaywrights\, actors\, and directors who are interested in being involved in the series should Dave Ebersole\, Keenya Jackson\, or Julie Zaffarano at macplayreadingseries20@gmail.com.
