She works to remove barriers to digital access and build confidence in essential technology skills. Julia supports community members in securing affordable devices and internet service\, strengthening digital literacy\, and using technology to meet their personal and professional goals. She is an advocate for digital equity in Delaware County. \n\n\n\n\n\nParking:\n\n\n\nPublic street parking is managed by Media Borough and is available on W. Franklin Street and South Jackson Street. Please check signage for residential\, handicapped\, and metered parking spaces around Media Fellowship House. DESCRIPTION:Original Playreading Series:\n\n\n\nThe Rule of Cool \n\n\n\nby Griffin Horn\n\n\n\nIt’s Sophomore year and Iph is struggling to keep up with pre-med\, and not even her weekly game of Dungeons & Dragons can help. She and her friends go back to the drawing board and make their campaign up from scratch\, when all the feelings they haven’t confronted begin appearing unbidden in their game. Can they keep their cool? \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Playwright\n\n\n\nGriffin Horn (he/him) is a playwright\, director\, and educator\, with a B.A. in Drama from Kenyon College\, and an M.F.A. in Playwriting from Temple University. His full-length plays include Our Hopeful Anxious Hearts\, which received a reading at PlayPenn\, and was a finalist for the Terrence McNally Award at Philadelphia Theatre Company. He directed A Levittown Christmas Carol by Righteous Jolly and Dave Shaw at the New Hope Arts Center\, as well as Voices by Joy Nash\, The Half of It by Domenick Scudera\, Morphology by Jillian Blevins\, and Promises to Keep: A Yuletide Ceremony\, all for the Phillips’ Mill Community Association. He has taught at Ursinus College\, Darlington Arts Center\, McCarter Theatre Center\, and Arena Stage. He is an alumnus of The Foundry\, and the Playwrights Cohort\, both run by PlayPenn in Philadelphia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Series\n\n\n\nThe Media Arts Council (MAC) Play Reading Series was created by playwrights Julie Zaffarano\, Dave Ebersole\, and Keenya Jackson\, in partnership with the MAC to create a space for local playwrights to hear their work read by talented actors and receive feedback from a public audience. The only regular new play reading series in the area\, it brings exciting new stories to Delaware County. \n\n\n\nPlaywrights\, actors\, and directors who are interested in being involved in the series should Dave Ebersole\, Keenya Jackson\, or Julie Zaffarano at macplayreadingseries20@gmail.com. She shared in a Tony Award at the Denver Center Theater Company in 1998 and has written and produced four one-woman shows\, including Love Lessons\, produced by Amnesty International and Interact Theater in Philadelphia. She founded Philadelphia’s largest civic yoga fundraiser and the Radiant Retreat in Mexico\, an annual retreat that focuses on meditation\, yoga\, and writing for personal wellness\, development\, and creativity. Jennifer facilitates programs at the University of Pennsylvania\, Wharton\, Morris Arboretum\, and Maine Media Workshops & College. Her watercolor paintings have been exhibited at Connecticut College\, The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts\, Gwynedd Mercy University\, and Woodmere Art Museum. DESCRIPTION:Original Playreading Series:\n\n\n\nGutter\n\n\n\nby Quinn Eli\n\n\n\nThe disillusioned manager of a fading Philadelphia bowling alley ignites tension among her racially divided staff when a famous Hollywood actor arrives to scout a “gritty” location for his next film\, offering each of them a potential new future at an enormous cost. \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Playwright\n\n\n\nQuinn D. Eli is a playwright\, dramaturg\, and educator\, originally from the Bronx\, NY. His short plays have appeared in Best American Ten-Minute Plays and been produced throughout the country. Longer works can be found on NPX\, including Hot Black/Asian Action\, a satire about sexual and racial stereotypes\, and In Common\, an interracial ghost story\, produced by Purple Rose Theater. He is a cofounder of Jouska PlayWorks\, a Philadelphia-based initiative for playwrights of the African Diaspora. Recognized as an artist-advocate by the Kilroys in 2025\, Eli heads the Theatre program at the Community College of Philadelphia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Series\n\n\n\nThe Media Arts Council (MAC) Play Reading Series was created by playwrights Julie Zaffarano\, Dave Ebersole\, and Keenya Jackson\, in partnership with the MAC to create a space for local playwrights to hear their work read by talented actors and receive feedback from a public audience. The only regular new play reading series in the area\, it brings exciting new stories to Delaware County. \n\n\n\nPlaywrights\, actors\, and directors who are interested in being involved in the series should Dave Ebersole\, Keenya Jackson\, or Julie Zaffarano at macplayreadingseries20@gmail.com. DESCRIPTION:Join us for Garden Planting Day on May 3rd as we bring our garden to life! Volunteers will help plant vegetables and herbs while learning the basics of gardening and preparing for the growing season. \n\n\n\nMedia Fellowship House is proud to kick off the third year of our youth-centered initiative in Spring 2026\, centered on growing fresh vegetables and herbs for our community through our garden\, Cultivating Justice. This program offers a hands-on opportunity to experience the full gardening process—from planting to harvest—while increasing access to fresh\, locally grown produce. \n\n\n\nThis year\, we are expanding our garden by three additional beds\, allowing us to grow even more produce and deepen our impact. Last year\, we were honored to participate in the Penn State Extension Master Gardener of Delaware County 34th Annual Garden Contest\, where we proudly earned First Place in the Novice Community Garden category. \n\n\n\nCome dig in with us and be part of something growing—literally!  \n\n\n\nWe encourage you to bring your garden gloves if you have a pair! DESCRIPTION:The Salon: Art\, Questions & Conversation \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJared Reed will perform his adaptation of Homer’s Iliad which focuses on the toll of war\, the consequences of our choices\, and how we choose to meet our end. \n\n\n\nThe Salon: Art\, Questions & Conversation is a performance series where art and audience become one living work. Join us for two short performances and readings from classical to contemporary micro-memoir\, and questions about truth: beauty\, self-worth\, and what it means to be human — and a space for conversation directly about the experience. \n\n\n\nIf much of our suffering comes from living inside myths — stories we tell ourselves about who we should be\, and what we should achieve. The Salon is an invitation to challenge myths together. Through art and honest conversation\, the evening becomes an act of collective wisdom\, liberation\, and grace. Art that points the finger at ourselves.  \n\n\n\nWhat if both the performance and the conversation about themes in the performance ignites depth of the the evening itself — and becomes part of the art.  \n\n\n\nAt the Salon\, it does. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGeneral Admission $20Free for Veterans and Educators \n\n\n\n\nPurchase Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJared Reed is an actor\, writer\, director\, and live and digital event producer with 30 years experience. \n\n\n\nAs a theatre and live event producer\, he has brought new and established works to audiences of all demographics and interests\, working as an actor\, director\, writer\, educator\, and producer nationally and internationally\, and here at Philadelphia companies including Curio Theatre Company (co-founder); The Walnut Street Theatre; Bristol Riverside; Philadelphia Artists Collective; and Hedgerow Theatre\, where he was a company member from 1990 to 2020 and Producing Artistic Director 2016 to 2020. Jared is a graduate of the Juilliard School\, Drama Division\, Group 24. As a writer\, he has been produced in a variety of mediums. As an educator\, he has taught at The University of the Arts\, Arcadia University\, and others\, as well as conceived and led multiple workshops in theatre education for all age and skill levels. \n\n\n\n\n\noutside presenter\n\n\n\nRadio Live Arts\n\n\n\nThis project is born out of a love of spoken word performance\, audio drama\, and old-time radio programs—anything where the connection between word\, speaker\, and audience is at its most focused. This presentation will examine the meaning and scope of due process\, who it applies to\, and how it functions in criminal\, civil\, and administrative legal matters. It will also explore how courts have interpreted due process over time and highlight the challenges this essential constitutional protection faces today. \n\n\n\nJoin us for an evening of reflection\, history\, and dialogue on how the Constitution continues to shape America’s future. \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker\n\n\n\nGeoff Schoos is a former public high school teacher and seasoned attorney who dedicated more than 30 years to advancing justice in civil law\, including housing\, employment\, public benefits\, elder law\, and nonprofit governance. A passionate advocate for equitable access to legal support\, he founded the Rhode Island Center for Law and Public Policy and organized the nation’s first full-time Medical Legal Partnership. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Garden Clean Up Day! Join us Saturday April 18th for a Garden Prep Day as we get our beds ready for planting! Volunteers will help lay out garden beds\, fill them with soil\, and prepare the space for a successful growing season. \n\n\n\nMedia Fellowship House is proud to kick off the third year of our youth-centered initiative in Spring 2026\, centered on growing fresh vegetables and herbs for our community through our garden\, Cultivating Justice. This program offers a hands-on opportunity to experience the full gardening process—from planting to harvest—while increasing access to fresh\, locally grown produce. \n\n\n\nThis year\, we are expanding our garden by three additional beds\, allowing us to grow even more produce and deepen our impact. Last year\, we were honored to participate in the Penn State Extension Master Gardener of Delaware County 34th Annual Garden Contest\, where we proudly earned First Place in the Novice Community Garden category. \n\n\n\nCome dig in with us and be part of something growing—literally!  \n\n\n\nWe encourage you to bring your garden gloves and a shovel if you have one! We will be moving our freshly delivered garden soil from the street to the garden beds.
