Social Justice Speaker Monica Miller Smith – Be A Civic Ally

Dr. Miller-Smith is an educator, published author, public speaker, and activist. She is a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consultant at Frederica Academy, a Professor at Central Michigan University and University of Bridgeport, a Freelance Contributor for McGraw Hill Higher Education, and a public speaker.

This presentation explores effective communication practices that encourages tweens, teens, and family members to engage in conversations that examine race-related topics. It includes resources to help expand their knowledge on race-related topics, along with teaching and learning materials that support collective discussions and promote critical thinking skills. It also includes methods to increase civic engagement within communities.
