Dr. Joan Duvall-Flynn, Ed.D. is an educator, activist, and tireless advocate for justice and equity. In addition to a career in education and advocacy work, Dr. Duvall Flynn has served as the former president of the NAACP Pennsylvania State Conference of Branches as well as the Media Area Unit NAACP Dr. Duvall Flynn. Currently Dr. Duvall-Flynn serves as a founder and Coalition Chair of the Trauma Informed Education Coalition. One of her most recent accomplishments was advocating for the “Trauma Informed PA Plan” and the “Trauma Informed Education Bill”. Dr. Duvall-Flynn will speak about the connection between trauma and racial justice including the impact of emotional and psychological trauma on individuals and communities as well as the powers of the brain to heal from trauma.
